It all happened very quickly, and within a matter of a few days I had been contacted (after previously interviewing about a month ago) and offered a contract that I had two days to sign. Of course, in all of my excitement, I signed it within 12 hours and it's already in the mail! I hope I don't regret that decision.
We fly to Anchorage on August 4th for an orientation to the culture, to surviving in the bush, and many other things I'm sure... From there we fly to Pilot Station, and the next week I have another orientation in Mountain Village which is another nearby village. We will be living in government subsidized housing that is already furnished and everything (thank goodness, I can't imagine flying a bed into a remote village in a mail plane...)
For now, it's incredibly hard to focus on my 1st graders and finish up my spring student teaching placement including my work sample and takeover (both of which I am in the middle of) with this in my very near future. It is even harder to focus on my SOU course work, when I am already feeling like such a REAL teacher!
With that being said, until school is out I probably won't have much time to update this blog unless I am procrastinating like I am right now...
